An immense challenge
Yates Associates were commissioned by The Royal Parks, to carry out site investigations and produce a report with proposals and budget costs for the decarbonisation of the existing 1960s oil fired heating system, which serves the 7,000 square metre glasshouse facility. This glasshouse is primarily used to grow bedding plants and for the over-wintering of temperature-sensitive stocks, which presents significant challenges due to the extreme heating demand of the facility.
The resulting 58-page document examined various options and energy sources that align with the planned decarbonisation of the UK electricity grid, and the substantial expansion and upgrading of infrastructure necessary to cater for the future electrification of everything.
