Electrical and specialist detail design for the original Heart Wiltshire 97.2 radio station
In 1982 Radio Wiltshire went on air. Yates Associates were invited by architects Sir Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners, under the direction of Don Gray, project architect, to undertake the design of electrical and specialist lighting services. The building, which resembled a spacecraft with circular windows and aluminium cladding contained six studios and a state of art Reception. For this project Yates Associates won the Philips lighting low energy award, Industrial Category, which was essentially at the time, the new Pl lamp located on the side of pre-formed cable tray sourced from The Netherlands as the photo shows.
The station was re-named GWR and in 2009 to Heart Wiltshire, broadcasting on 97.2 FM.
