This building was used by the famous typewriter company Smith-Corona as its manufacturing plant but was closed down by Olivetti.
Yates Associates were contacted by a film producer, Mike Skowronski who had a vision of creating Europe's largest studio. The building was 'H' shaped and the idea was to fill in the 'H' by roofing over to create two studios. The design team was Gleeds, Sandy Brown Associates, Broadcast Consultants Ltd and Hop Studios.
Unfortunately, the project did not get planning permission.
