Raising the standard
In May 2014 we were invited by Sevenoaks School to review the indoor lighting in The Bailey Tennis Centre which had become not fit for purpose due to a recent upgrade of the playing areas and the below average ambient lighting level on the surface of each court.
We looked at re-lighting The Centre with LED lamp sources which was very favourable in terms of lighting levels, control and energy savings, but for an interim period it was decided to re-lamp the existing luminaires. Visual rendering of the proposal was undertaken as shown, with results achieving an average of 594 lux from Daylight 860 fluorescent tubes. The chosen lamp source has achieved a colour rendering which is suitable to the blue court playing surface, the ball and the white clothing of the players.
