Yates Associates were kindly invited by Focus Consulting to tender for the re-furbishment of this Grade 2 listed 12th century Church of England being the oldest building in Walthamstow. The overall funding is close to 4m which has been assisted by the Heritage Lottery Funding Scheme. Our input included RIBA work stages 3 to 7 and involved generally the full MEP detail design. The heating was underfloor with back up wall mounted radiators.
The church was lit from luminaires placed at approximately 9metres AFFL utilising led lamps that featured snap-on lens accessories to allow flexibility with beam angles aimed at numerous elements such as monuments. The lighting control system was by Casambi and is operated by advanced Bluetooth technology designed by the pioneers of Nokia in Finland.
The church is well attended and concerts form part of the attraction so a very high-quality AV system has been installed by a specialist company, Blue Elephant, and the historic organ restored. A new café and Exhibition space are key features of the church attractions.
