A time capsule included in shopping centre upgrade
A sixty's shopping precinct with wet and windy malls, the owners, The Prudential Insurance decided it was time for an upgrade, so Fitch & Co were employed to undertake a major refurbishment design. The main task was to roof over the malls and squares with the most up to date glazing available. In depth studies were made of the suns position throughout the year and shading was provided to help counter this. The glass was also self cleaning. Yates Associates undertook the full MEP design, including specialists lighting and smoke control.
At the opening ceremony a time capsule filled with goods from the local shops was buried below the plaque.
