A design statement for a traditional open plan office block
The agency leased four floors in this unloved 26- story high rise building overlooking Cardiff Castle formally known as Pearl House. Yates Associates worked with designers DEGW who created almost a stage set from a normal open plan space. Services alterations were minimal, for example, the perimeter heating induction units were re-balanced to suit open plan and cellular office combinations whilst existing lighting luminaires were modified with new lens controllers and lamps.
The main feature was a new corridor walkway circulation route around the central core of each office floor space.
Site meetings were a joy, as the team tucked into a British Rail breakfast on the 125 special from Paddington!
